What TaxDin is

TaxDin is a tax-residency day-counting web app. You record which country you were in at each midnight — one day or whole date ranges at a time — and TaxDin turns that single travel history into the day counts used in UK, Indian and Singapore tax-residence assessments, with thresholds, workday tracking and adviser-ready reports.

Who it serves

  • Globally mobile individuals who need to know where their day counts stand
  • Families — up to two tracked people per family, compared side by side
  • Expatriates and returning residents managing multiple jurisdictions at once
  • Tax advisers and accountants, via an invited admin login or exported reports

Countries supported

  • United Kingdom — Statutory Residence Test day counts and sufficient-ties inputs per UK tax year (6 April – 5 April)
  • India — Section 6 day-count tests per Indian financial year (1 April – 31 March), including the multi-year look-back
  • Singapore — days of presence and workdays per calendar year

Day counts are tracked for every country you visit; the three above additionally get rule-specific readouts.

Product capabilities

  • Daily midnight location logging, single days or whole date ranges
  • Per-country day counts bucketed by UK tax year or calendar year
  • UK sufficient-ties readout including workday tracking
  • India Section 6 residency readout including RNOR status
  • Singapore day and workday counts against the calendar year
  • Two-person family tracking with side-by-side comparison
  • Calendar view, sortable daily records table and filing summary
  • Built-in assistant that answers product questions and can add or change location days from a typed or spoken sentence — every change is shown for explicit confirmation before anything is saved

GPS and location tracking

TaxDin does not use GPS or any continuous location tracking. All locations are entered manually by the user or imported from sources the user connects themselves — spreadsheets or airline emails in their own inbox. The app never reads device location.

Import formats

  • Excel (.xlsx) file upload, multiple tabs and several common layouts
  • Google Sheets import (share the sheet with TaxDin's service account)
  • Flight import from the user's own Outlook inbox (user-authorised; scans airline emails and proposes travel days for review)

Export formats

  • Excel (.xlsx) multi-sheet workbook (daily records, per-year tallies, days by country)
  • CSV export per report section
  • PDF via print-friendly layout
  • Optional sync of recorded stays to the user's own Outlook calendar
  • Optional automatic backup to the user's own Google Sheet

Family tracking

A family account tracks up to two people. Members are invited by email; each person's history can be imported before they ever sign up.

Adviser and accountant access

An accountant, assistant or adviser can be invited with an admin login — full view and edit access to the family's data without taking a tracked slot — or given exported Excel/CSV reports.

Data hosting and privacy

  • Each family's data is private to that family; data is never mixed across families or sold
  • Passwords are stored hashed; sessions use secure, httpOnly cookies
  • Data is stored in a managed cloud database and remains exportable at any time
  • Users can delete all of their family's day data from within the app
  • Google Sheet backup is optional and goes only to a sheet the user owns and shares

Pricing

TaxDin is currently free to use. There are no paid plans at this time; if paid plans are introduced, existing data will always remain exportable.

Important limitation

TaxDin is a day-counting aid, not tax or legal advice. Day counts are an input to residence tests, not the final answer — residence can depend on factors beyond days present. Always confirm your position with a qualified adviser.
