Spreadsheets break exactly when it matters

Silent errors

A mistyped date or a formula that stops at last year's boundary changes your day count without anyone noticing.

Wrong year boundaries

The UK counts against a 6 April tax year, India against a 1 April financial year, Singapore against the calendar year — one sheet rarely gets all three right.

No audit trail

When an authority asks about a specific week three years ago, a shared spreadsheet with overwritten cells is a weak answer.

How TaxDin works

  1. Log your days

Record which country you were in at each midnight — click days on the calendar, or just tell the assistant by typing or speaking and confirm what it proposes.

  2. Import your history

Bring in years of past travel from Excel or Google Sheets, and pull flights from your own Outlook inbox; manual corrections are never overwritten.

  3. Monitor thresholds

Watch each jurisdiction's day counts against its own year boundary — UK tax year, Indian financial year and calendar year.

  4. Export for your adviser

Hand over a multi-sheet Excel workbook with daily records, per-year tallies and a filing summary.

Built for the rules that actually apply to you

Each jurisdiction measures the same calendar differently. TaxDin keeps one travel history and shows every country's count against its own rules.

Who TaxDin is for

Individuals

Cross-border professionals and frequent travellers who need an accurate, dated record of where they were — before a tax authority asks.

Families

Two people tracked side by side in one account, with separate readouts each — because each person's residency clock runs separately.

Tax advisers

Invite-based access to a client's records and clean exports built for filing work — no more reconstructing a year from boarding passes.

Everything you need for residency day counting

Count every day

Log which country you were in each midnight — one day at a time or whole date ranges at once.

Jurisdiction-aware readouts

Day-count inputs for the UK Statutory Residence Test with sufficient ties, India's Section 6 tests including RNOR status, and Singapore's calendar-year counts — computed from one travel history.

Track your family

Add your spouse or partner — even if they never sign up — compare both of you side by side, and give your assistant or accountant their own access.

See where you've been

Color-coded calendars, country breakdowns and proportion charts show your year at a glance.

Ask, or just say it

The built-in assistant answers questions about your dashboard and can add or change days from a typed or spoken sentence — you review and confirm every change before it's saved.

Flights, found for you

Connect your own Outlook account to turn airline emails into travel days — every flight is proposed for your review first — and sync your recorded stays back to your calendar.

Import & export

Import from Excel or Google Sheets, back up to your own sheet, and export Excel/CSV — including a year-end filing summary for your accountant.

Simple by design

Works great on your phone, supports dark mode, and keeps your data private to your family.

What your adviser receives

A multi-sheet Excel workbook with every daily record, per-year tallies and this filing summary — per person, per year.

Security and privacy

Private to your family

Every record is scoped to your family account. Admins you invite can help, but data never mixes across families.

Serious about credentials

Passwords stored only as bcrypt hashes, signed httpOnly session cookies, and single-use hashed reset and invite tokens.

Yours to take away

Full Excel and CSV export any time, optional backup to a Google Sheet you own, and one-click deletion of all your data.

Day counts are an input, not the answer

Tax residence can depend on factors beyond days present — work patterns, family and accommodation ties, citizenship, income levels and treaty tie-breakers among them. TaxDin keeps the day-count inputs accurate; a qualified adviser should confirm any residence position before you act on it. See the tax disclaimer.

Common questions about residency day counting

What is TaxDin?

TaxDin is a web app that counts your tax-residency days. You log which country you were in at each midnight, and it applies each country's residency rules automatically — the full UK Statutory Residence Test, India's Section 6 tests (including deemed residency and RNOR status), and Singapore's 183-day rule — for you and your spouse or partner.

How are days counted for the UK Statutory Residence Test?

Under the UK Statutory Residence Test, a day normally counts as a UK day if you are in the UK at midnight. Your UK day count per tax year (6 April to 5 April) is one key input in the Statutory Residence Test, alongside ties such as work, family and accommodation. TaxDin counts your UK midnights per tax year and also computes the sufficient-ties inputs, including work, 90-day, family, accommodation and country ties.

How many days make you a tax resident in India or Singapore?

India applies day-count tests per financial year (1 April to 31 March): a 182-day test, plus a 60-day test combined with 365+ days over the previous four years — with relaxed thresholds for citizens and PIOs living abroad and deemed-residency rules for some high-income citizens. TaxDin's India Residency card works through all of these tests, including RNOR status. For Singapore, days of presence per calendar year are the main input, with 183 days a commonly used threshold. Day counts alone don't settle residence — other factors and tests can apply, so confirm your position with a qualified adviser.

Can I import my existing travel spreadsheet?

Yes. TaxDin imports day-by-day location history from Excel files and Google Sheets, understands several common layouts across multiple tabs, and normalizes country names automatically. You can also back your data up to your own Google Sheet and export Excel or CSV files for your accountant.

Can I track my spouse or family members too?

Yes. A family in TaxDin can track two people and compare them side by side. You can invite your spouse or partner by email, or import their history before they ever sign up. You can also invite an assistant or accountant with admin access — they can view and manage your family's data without taking a tracked slot. Your data stays private to your family.
